Mr. Hiskey held private practice associate positions with two central New Jersey law firms before opening his own law firm in July 2009. In private practice, he has handled large case loads of civil litigation including such areas as land use litigation, estate litigation such as will contests, divorce and other family law matters, civil rights, contract disputes, and other areas of general and commercial litigation. When he opened the Law Offices of Timothy G. Hiskey, LLC, he has concentrated on land use, estate litigation and family law.
As to land use, he handles the whole spectrum of land use matters such as:
- Development applications, both minor and major subdivisions and site plans
- Use variances and bulk variances that arise with development applications
- Objections to development applications
- Other planning and zoning board matters
- Prerogative writ actions, i.e. appeals to the Superior Court of New Jersey of planning board and board of adjustment (zoning board) decisions
- Boundary disputes and other matters involving disagreements over the use or ownership of land
As to estate litigation, Mr. Hiskey has handled the whole spectrum of those types of matters which include:
- Will contests involving undue influence
- Will contests involving mental capacity
- Will contests involving fraud
- Will contests involving interpretation or construction of will provisions
- Estate administration litigation involving the actions of executors, administrators and trustees
