Attorney Profile for Timothy G. Hiskey
Mr. Hiskey began his career in the law with a wide set of other legal experiences. During law school, he interned at the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Special Litigation Section. During that internship, he researched legal issues and drafted legal memoranda involving litigations between the Department of Justice and state prisons, state psychiatric institutions and county jails.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Hiskey took a position as an attorney for the Fraternal Order of Police-Corrections where he worked for the FOP-Corrections union representing correctional officers in labor disputes. He then took a position as a staff attorney for the Council of the District of Columbia, which is the legislative branch of the local government of our nation’s capital. At the Council, he served At-Large Councilmember Hilda Howland Mason. His duties included drafting legislation and position papers; providing analysis of all pending bills in the judiciary, education, public works and finance/revenue committees; and questioning the chiefs of various D.C. governmental agencies at public hearings concerning the operations of such agencies, e.g. the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police, the District of Columbia Schools and the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles.
After moving up to New Jersey in 1998, Mr. Hiskey served for a year as a law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey, Trenton Vicinage, for Judge Stephen A. Stripp and Judge Kathryn C. Ferguson. He drafted bench memoranda and judicial opinions, some of which were published. Upon completing that one-year federal clerkship, he began working in private practice and now is a solo practitioner with his own firm, Law Offices of Timothy G. Hiskey, LLC.
Mr. Hiskey is a member of the New Jersey Association for Justice and the Mercer County Bar Association.
